Check your essay before they do

your draft, your evidence

Teachers run detectors. If your honest writing happens to read “AI” — formal tone, careful grammar, English as your second language — you find out here first, see exactly which lines look machine-written, and fix them before it costs you.

Why honest essays get flagged

Detectors score how predictable your writing is. Careful student writing — even sentences, formal vocabulary, textbook structure — shares that surface with machine text. It is a known bias, not something you did wrong; non-native writers are hit hardest (why ESL gets flagged).

A score is never proof. Every result here shows the specific patterns behind it, so a number turns into something you can actually check — and fix.

Three honest uses

Not an evasion tool. We won't help you disguise work that isn't yours — and tools that promise “undetectable” are selling you a moving target. Honest rewriting is the only fix that lasts.

If you're accused and it's wrong

Private by design. Anonymous scans are never stored — your school can't see them because there is nothing to see. Scans saved to a free account are private to you and deletable any time.

Free and anonymous — see what a detector would say about your essay, line by line, before anyone else runs one.

FAQ

Common questions.

Why does my own writing score high?

Formal, careful writing — especially from non-native English speakers — shares surface habits with AI text: even sentences, formal vocabulary, few contractions. That's exactly why we show the reasons, not just a number, and why no score should ever be treated as proof.

What should I do if I'm accused of using AI?

Stay calm and bring evidence: your draft history, notes, and a ScanForAI report showing the per-line breakdown. Ask what tool was used and its known false-positive behavior. A single detector score is not proof, and most institutions know it.

Is it free for students?

Yes — the scanner is free and anonymous, and a free account adds the full pattern breakdown, deep analysis, history and PDF reports. No card.

If I scan my essay here, can my school see it?

No. Anonymous scans are never stored — there is nothing to see. Scans saved to a free account are private to you and deletable any time. We don't report to institutions, full stop.

Can universities detect AI writing?

Most run something — Turnitin's AI indicator or a standalone detector — and every one of them has documented false positives. That's the practical reason to check your own work first and keep your drafts: you want evidence on your side before anyone else runs a tool.

How do I make allowed AI use safe to submit?

Three steps: follow your course's citation rule for AI assistance, rewrite the draft until it genuinely carries your voice, then scan it — the marked lines show exactly what still reads machine-written. If the marks are gone, the writing is yours in the way that matters.

AI detection is not 100% accurate. Every result is an estimate from writing patterns and can be wrong both ways. Never use it as the sole basis for a decision about a person, and never to accuse.
