# Browser extension privacy

The ScanForAI browser extension sends only the text you select, stores nothing, and tracks nothing. The full privacy policy, in plain English.

# What the extension does with your text

The ScanForAI browser extension is a thin client: it holds no detection logic and sends nothing anywhere until you ask it to scan or clean up a piece of text.

## What is sent, and when

- **Only on your action.** Text goes to `api.scanforai.com` only when you press Scan/Clean up or use the right-click menu on a selection. The extension never reads pages in the background and has no access to your browsing.
- **Only the text you chose.** No URLs, no page contents beyond your selection, no identifiers beyond what any HTTPS request carries.

## What is stored

- **On our servers: nothing, for anonymous use.** Anonymous scans and clean-ups are processed and discarded — the same promise as the website.
- **In your browser: your optional API key**, kept in local extension storage only, never synced, removable any time in the extension settings.
- **If you use your own API key**, scans follow your account's settings — saved to your private history only if your account saves them.

## What it never does

- **No analytics, no tracking, no ads** — the extension contains no telemetry of any kind.
- **No selling or sharing of data.** Your text is used to produce your result, nothing else.
- **No remote code.** Everything that runs ships inside the extension package.
